The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) has been discouraging travel unless it is essential. Today I read an article that said that the agency has given a cautious green light for fully vaccinated people to travel. The director of the agency does not advocate travel, but says "our guidance is silent on recommending or not recommending fully vaccinated people travel." The agency urges everyone, including those vaccinated, to continue to take precautions such as using masks when in public. That's something that I fully intended to do anyway.
Studies continue to show the effectiveness of the vaccines, and preliminary research gives optimism that vaccinated people are unlikely to spread the virus to others. Studies have also shown that airplane travel is a very low risk activity, although the airport itself is more problematic. It is still required that everyone returning on a flight from outside the U.S. test negative for COVID within 72 hours before boarding the plane. Fortunately there is an approved lab giving COVID tests within walking distance of Alejandro's house.
Five days to Mexico!
