I am not a big fan of garden statuary. Most of it is either too kitschy or too formal and neoclassical for the type of garden that I have. However, I found these two small Chinese guardian lions in a local store. I think they look good in an empty spot that I had in front of the bird bath.
Guardian lions have been used for centuries in China to protect imperial palaces and tombs from harmful spiritual influences. I wonder if they will protect my garden from hungry deer! 😃
