I've heard of Christmas markets, but I had never heard of a Valentine's Day market before. Just a few blocks away from Alejandro's house there is a "tianguis" (outdoor market) for what the Mexicans call "el Día de Amor y Amistad' (the Day of Love and Friendship). It began on Friday and will continue until Tuesday night. Last night Alejandro and I took a stroll through the very crowded market.
There were stalls selling candies and stuffed animals. But most of the stalls really weren't directly related to Valentine's Day other than the fact that you might want to buy your sweetheart some clothing, cheap jewelry or lingerie as a present.
No thanks, we already ate.
