Farewell

In earlier posts I have introduced you to Alejandro's (and therefore my) good friend Eduardo.  Last year Eduardo married his partner, who is also a citizen of the U.S.  Thus, he was able to give us invaluable advice on the requirements for our own marriage this year.

Eduardo and his husband are moving to Mérida in the state of Yucatán.  On Friday, he is leaving Mexico City and taking up residence in the house that they have rented.

Alejandro and I wanted to get together with Eduardo one last time before he leaves.  Last night we went out for supper at a nearby mall.

In Mexico, restaurants never try to rush you out.  The "sobremesa", the after-dinner conversation, is a part of the dining experience in Hispanic culture.  It's a good thing, because were sitting for more than two hours chatting.  We didn't leave until we realized that they were starting to close the mall.

"Hasta luego, Eduardo."  The best of luck to you both in your new home, and we hope to visit you in Mérida.
