The COVID vaccination of Alejandro's family is progressing more quickly than I expected.
Alejandro's father received his first shot shortly before my arrival, and his sister, who has an office job in a hospital, received her second shot shortly after I arrived in Mexico. Last Thursday their father got his second shot. He received the Sputnik vaccine from Russia which is supposed to be as effective as the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.
Tomorrow they will begin giving shots to those between 50 and 59 years of age. The "delegación" where Alejandro lives was one of the last districts of the city in which the vaccine was made available to those over 60. However for the next stage, his "delegación" is in the first group. Yesterday, Alejandro received an email notifying him that he will receive his initial shot on Friday. It was also announced that it will be the Sputnik vaccine that will be given out. Mexico was supposed to receive a large shipment of the Chinese vaccine, but we are happy that he is not getting that since it is much less effective.
