Rushing the Season

The last time I looked at the calendar we were still in August.  However, last weekend Alejandro and I were at Sam's Club, and they were already selling merchandise for holidays that are months away.

It's bad enough that the gringo-style celebration of Halloween has grafted itself onto the traditional Mexican Day of the Dead holiday, but do they have to start selling these decorations (probably made in China) two and a half months ahead of time?  Can't we get through Mexican Independence Day (September 16th) before thinking about Halloween / Day of the Dead?

Even worse, they're selling Christmas decorations four months ahead of time.  Are the Sam's Clubs in the U.S. already selling Christmas stuff?

  1. Halloween stuff rolled out around the end of July. I haven't seen any Christmas stuff yet, but saw some Thanksgiving type stuff at Dollar Tree.
