A Work in Progress

Earlier I wrote about the three "Mexicráneos" in front of the Mexico City World Trade Center.  One of the three was not yet finished, and I have been tracking its progress each time I pass by.

When I first wrote about this skull, it appeared that the artist was painting a young man with a telescope looking up at the starry sky.  Later that image had been completed and a painting of the Mars Rover appeared against the sky.

Still later, planets had been added to the sky.  (I'm not sure of the significance of the eye in the middle of the forehead.)

On another occasion when I passed by, the artist was on work on the other side.  It looked like she was painting a person looking through a microscope.

Later, the medical worker looking through a microscope was complete, and the artist had added forms that looked like cells.  So on the one side the person is looking at the infinity of space, while on the other side the researcher is peering into the hidden microscopic world.

Now spiked globules which must represent the coronavirus have appeared.

Finally, a set of test tubes, and a vial with a needle... certainly representing the COVID vaccine... have appeared.

The "Mexicráneo" was finally finished.
