Coming Events

I have already written about some of the events that are a part of the Day of the Dead season.  But even after the Day of the Dead is done and over with, we still have some events to look forward to in November.

When I was still living in Ohio, I used to attend from time to time the Metropolitan Opera simulcasts at a local cinema.  Last year I discovered that the simulcasts are presented here in Mexico City at the National Auditorium.  Alejandro and I went to see "The Barber of Seville".  Looking at the 2025-2026 season of simulcasts, the opera that I most wanted to see was "La Boheme" by Giacomo Puccini.  Even though it is one of the most popular operas ever written, I had never seen it.  It will be presented on November 8th.  So I went to the box office of the auditorium, and bought two tickets for us.

A couple weeks ago we were walking by the Teatro Insurgentes, and when I saw the marquee advertising their next production, I almost jumped for joy.  "The Phantom of the Opera", one of my favorite musicals, is coming to the theater in November.

I did not delay in going to the box office, because I figured that it would be a very popular show.  In fact, the opening night was already sold out.  I bought four tickets for November 22nd.  We are taking Alejandro's sister and nephew with us.

We have been to the Teatro Insurgentes previously to see "El Hombre de La Mancha" and "Cabaret".  The production values of both shows were very high.  The staging of "Phantom" is of course very elaborate.  It will be interesting to see how this show will compare with the production I saw years ago in Toronto.
