May 10th is Mothers' Day in Mexico. In honor of the occasion, Ezra's elementary school presented a show at a nearby theater on Wednesday morning, a tribute to "la mamá mexicana". Each group, from kindergarten to sixth grade did a dance routine, most of them to traditional Mexican folk songs. I have been to several school presentations, but I thought this one was the best of all. I enjoyed the music, and I was happy to see that the students are learning about their folklore. The littlest ones were especially adorable.
Ezra's third grade class danced to an arrangement of Mexican folk songs with a samba beat... Mexican fiesta meets "Carnaval" of Rio.
The show ending with the entire student body on stage serenading their mothers.
The students had the rest of the day off. However, the principal reminded them to be sure to report to class on Thursday so that they could finish their gifts for Mothers' Day to give on Friday.
I love those shows put on with the children. It always gives me hope for the present and the future.
ReplyDeleteWish those little kids would always remain so sweet.
