In the small shopping mall down the street from the apartment, there was a restaurant called "Fondue Haus". We went there a number of times for fondue for supper. They also had good pizza, and we had breakfast there a couple times too. We were sad to see that it closed a couple months ago. Then we saw signs announcing a new restaurant called "Café C". It had its grand opening a couple weeks ago. On Saturday we decided to try it out for breakfast.
The menu is quite extensive with a variety of pancakes and French toast, and a section of traditional Mexican breakfasts. Then there is a selection of "classic breakfasts from around the world", which included dishes such as avocado toast, croque madame and bagel with smoked salmon. We both ordered from the Mexican breakfasts.
Alejandro had "huevos ahogados yucatecos"... scrambled eggs with "cochinita pibil" (Yucatan style pulled pork) covered in sauce.
I had the "desayuno pibil"... a bed of chilaquiles with a black bean "tamal" (the singular of tamales in "tamal" not tamales) and "cochinita pibil" on top of that.
Our meals were very good, the service was good in spite of how busy they were, and the price was reasonable. We will come back... as long as we can get up and to the restaurant by nine.
