Downpour

Yesterday, Mexico City was hit with heavy rains that resulted in widespread flooding.  Some streets were closed due to high water, and there were places, especially underpasses, where motorists had to abandon their cars.  There were some areas where houses were flooded.  Portions of the subway system had to shut down, and the Mexico City International Airport was closed down due to flooded runways.  No flights took off for hours, and flights heading into Mexico City were diverted to other airports.

Alejandro and I were driving from the apartment to the family home in the middle of all this.  It was slow going.  Visibility was reduced, and there were plenty of large puddles.  Fortunately, we did not encounter any dangerous flooding along the way, and we made it to the house without any problems.
