Eating at the Market

As I said at the end of my last post, I was going to have my afternoon dinner at one of the restaurants on the upper level at the Medellín Market.  At the top of the steps is a place called Cha Cha Cha, and its specialty is Yucatecan food.

I ordered one of the Yucatecan packages.  It included a pitcher of "agua fresca".  The "agua" of the day was flavored with lime and cucumber.  It was refreshing.

"Sopa de lima" (lime soup), the most characteristic soup of Yucatán, is a chicken soup flavored with lime.  It was generously garnished with "totopos" (tortilla chips).

My main course was a plate of tacos of "cochinita pibil", a traditional Yucatecan dish of slow roasted pork.

The meal was certainly not the best Yucatecan food I have had, but what do you expect for 90 pesos (5 US dollars)?  It was cheap and filling.  I might return sometime to try the South American food at one of the other market restaurants.
