Blossoms in February

This has been an exceptionally mild winter in Ohio.  This past week temperatures have been in the 50s and 60s.  I noticed a few days ago that a few of my crocus are already blooming.  Crocus are, of course, the first flowers to appear, but never have I known them to begin blooming in February!

  1. We've had a mild winter here too, althought the cherry blossom and snowdrops are all out at the expected time. And a welcome sight they are too...

    1. The weather here has been crazy. Yesterday the temperature rose to 75F. It was like early summer. But today it is going to drop to a more seasonable temperature in the 20s.

  2. Always so sweet to see! I've seen them covered by snow in the past as well. As delicate as they are, it is always surprising how strong those little flowers can be....

    1. Yes, they are very resilient, but unfortunately they are no match for the deer who love to munch on them. I have already sprayed the flower bed with deer repellant.
