I am in a state of depression and disbelief.
At least in 2016 I could say to Mexicans, "The majority of the people in the United States did not vote for that man." But this time he has won not just Electoral College but the popular vote as well.
I am ashamed and disgusted that a majority of the voters in the U.S. voted for a lying, racist, misogynistic, xenophobic, treasonous, demented felon. It is a very poor reflection on the people of my country.
I truly fear for my country and for the world.
Chuck and I are happy for you, though. You saw the writing on the wall and got outta here. I think we were too optimistic that this couldn't happen again. And as a woman, I am just sick to my stomach that a very qualified woman couldn't beat this guy. If a woman can't beat the least qualified candidate in history, then I don't think a woman will ever be president of the US. I can't deal with this kind of misogyny.
ReplyDeleteNevertheless, I am still very depressed over what is happening to our country, and I have never been so ashamed of it. Politically speaking, things are not so great in Mexico, even if they have their first woman President. Alejandro jokes that we should move to Switzerland, herd cows and make cheese.
