An Eye on the City

I recently found a website which has live webcams throughout Mexico City.  Here is a picture at sunrise this morning taken from the Latin American Tower looking east.  You can make out on the horizon the silhouette of the two volcanoes, Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl.

This webcam is located on the Gran Hotel de México facing the city´s main plaza, the Zócalo.  Before Christmas I wrote about the display of poinsettias that decorated the Zócalo this holiday season.  You can see here that, even though the Christmas season does not end until January 6th, the poinsettias have been removed.  I don't know what the tents on the plaza are all about, but at least the ice-skating rink is not cluttering up the Zócalo this year.

This ice skating rink, which has been set up each holiday season for the past several years, is now located by the Monument to the Revolution.  In this view from a hotel near the Monument, you can see a bit of the installation at the lower right side of the photo.

You can check out the website, which have many other webcams in Mexico City and throughout the country at www.webcamsdemexico.com
