On a Clear Day

I have written frequently (perhaps "ad nauseum") here about the volcanoes Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl  (Popo and Izta for short) that are located near Mexico City.  When the sky is clear and the air pollution not too bad you can see them from the city.  Early this morning the conditions were right for seeing the volcanoes.  This is the view early this morning looking east from the Latin American Tower, once the tallest skyscraper in Mexico City.   The two peaks were silhouetted just before the sun rose above the mountains.

When I checked the same webcam this afternoon, the volcanoes were not visible.  However this webcam image closer to Popo suggests that it's displaying some activity today.
