The suitcases are packed!
Later today we are taking off on a trip to Ohio. I have to renew my Ohio driver's license as well as take care of some business at my bank. And of course, I will take advantage of my time up there to visit my friends. The calendar is chuck full of social engagements.
When we made the reservations, I found a very good fare for "business / first class" seats. In fact, incredibly, it was cheaper than "economy plus". We jumped on that. A month later I checked on the price again, and it had more than doubled. Since then, the price has come down, but it is still around $400 per person more than what we paid.
The news is full of stories about a decline in international travel to the United States. If the number of empty seats on our flight from Mexico City to Houston is any indication, that would seem to be true. When I looked at the seating chart yesterday the plane was only half full. I have not seen that since the waning days of the pandemic when I resumed traveling to Mexico.
