Two Nations

Alejandro sent me this photo which dramatically shows the difference between the United States and Canada during the pandemic.

The photo is taken at Niagara Falls. The boat at the bottom is a Canadian vessel, and it is carrying perhaps a half dozen tourists.
Above it is the famous "Maid of the Mist", and it is crammed with passengers.  No social distancing at all.

Is it any wonder we lead the world in the number of coronavirus cases and deaths?

  1. My neighbors just returned from Texas and said that most people are very "casual" about the virus in the USA. Not so here in SMA where there are tight restrictions, thankfully. However, as of today we now have had 17 deaths even with all the careful measures - masks, social distancing, disinfectant mats in each public space, temp check in some, hand sanitizer etc. I just stay home. It is easier although I did go out for 2 hours yesterday. Was EXTREMELY careful and always had my mask on.....

    1. And that casual attitude has resulted in the U.S. being #1 in cases and deaths. Texas is one of the hot spots with over 8000 deaths. Even here in Ohio, there have been nearly 500 deaths in my county alone. In Ohio there is a mask mandate in all stores, but some people ignore it, and many businesses do nothing to enforce it.
I am very cautious too. Stay safe!
