What Do You Think?

A few years ago when I was at one of the local garden centers, I bought several glass and ceramic spheres which are meant to be placed on a pedestal as a "gazing globe".  These are of different colors rather than the traditional silver, reflective spheres.  Instead of putting them on pedestals, I arranged them on the ground.

I didn't put them out last summer, but yesterday I brought them out of the storage shed.  Sometimes, when I look at them I think that they look cool.  Other times I think they look silly... as if I had set a bunch of bowling balls in the garden.  What do you think?

  1. Get a few more of varying sizes, and then distribute them around your yard as a scale model of the solar system.

    1. Ha ha! I have a big garden, but not that big! If I were to do it to scale, the farthest planet would probably have to be a couple blocks away.

  2. Well, it depends on the scale, right? (Hehehe!) There's a scale model of the solar system along one of the bike trails here, and it's 23 miles out to Pluto. (I've biked there...and beyond!) Of course, you only need to go up to Neptune now, so that would make it easier....

    1. We have something similar in the Cleveland Metroparks along the bike trail. It's nowhere near 23 miles... probably under one mile... but it's a much greater distance than my back yard.

  3. I wouldn't put them all together as in the picture. I'd prefer random placement. I think they'd "sparkle" more if they were a bit elevated, not necessarily on pedestals. I think they'd become hidden in foliage if they're on the ground.
