After the Parade

After the Day of the Dead parade last Saturday, it did not take us long to decide where to eat.  Our favorite restaurant, Angelopolitano, was within walking distance.

Although the restaurant serves superb "chiles en nogada" (the dish that I consider to be the masterpiece of Mexican cuisine), there are so many other excellent choices on the menu.  We both decided to order something different.

Alejandro started with roasted tomato soup.

I had "fideos" (noodles) flavored with chipotles and black bean broth and garnished with cream, crumbled cheese and avocado.

For his main course, Alejandro ordered "champandongo", layers of chicken and tortillas, covered with "mole poblano" and "crema".

I ordered something that I haven't had before...  chicken breast stuffed with goat cheese and apples and covered with guava "mole".  It was delicious.

Another scrumptious meal at Angelopolitano!
