My check-list of things to do before I depart on my next trip is nearly complete. I have even printed off my boarding passes.
Tomorrow morning (at 6 AM!) I leave with a friend for Mérida, Mexico. That means that we are supposed to be at the airport at 4 AM. From past experience with early morning flights, I doubt that there will even be anyone at the check-in counters at that hour, but we will follow the rules and be there two hours before departure. We will fly from Cleveland to Houston. There we will have a lengthy layover of nearly five hours. Since there is only one daily flight from Houston to Mérida, I would rather have a long layover than worry about making our connection.
The flight to Mérida used to leave Houston in the evening with arrival around 9 PM. That schedule has been changed. Now we depart Houston at 1 PM and arrive in the capital of the Yucatán a little after 3 PM.
So, my next post will be written from the Land of the Maya, where the temperature will be 74 degrees!
I have never been to Merida, but I hear that it is a beautiful but noisy city. Un buen viaje!
ReplyDeleteYes, it is a lovely city, and I really don't think it is any noisier than D.F. In fact I would say that one of its greatest charms is its laid back atmosphere.

There's nothing like living in the snowbelt to make one appreciate a Mexican "winter." And I get a good chuckle out of all the folks in DF, dressed in down jackets, scarves, and mittens when it's 55°F outside and I'm wearing a long-sleeve shirt, haha.
ReplyDeleteSaludos y buen viaje!

Where we are still trying to figure out what to bring and what to leave behind.
Yes, our first evening here it was a bit cool for the short sleeved shirts that we were wearing, but of course the locals were all wearing jackets!
