Here are some more of the Nativity scenes which are on display at Iturbide's Palace in the Historic Center of Mexico City...
A doily from the state of San Luis Potosí
The Holy Family rides in a "trajinera", one of the flat-bottomed boats that ply the canals of Xochimilco. These intricate clay figures come from the town of Metepec.
A Nativity scene from the state of Guanajuato carved from wood
This whimsical wooden carving from the state of Oaxaca depicts the flight to Egypt.
These beautifully detailed figures from Michoacán are modeled from wax. The clothing is made from feathers.
The figures of this Nativity scene from the town of Tepozotlán are also made of wax. Their clothing, traditional Mexican peasant attire, is sewn from cloth.
Trees of Life are intricate clay candelabrum that come from Metepec in the State of Mexico. This one, however, was made in Michoacán. In addition to the traditional figures of Adam and Eve, it also includes the Virgen of Guadalupe and a Nativity scene.
The exhibit will be at the Palace of Iturbide until February.
