Still Nothing

Last Friday I returned to the Condesa neighborhood.  Long-time readers of this blog will recall that before I started renting the condo in "colonia" Nápoles, I was staying at an Airbnb apartment in Condesa.  In September of 2017, the same year that I switched to the new place in Nápoles, Mexico City was hit by the worst earthquake it had experienced since the devastating quake of 1985.  The apartment building in Condesa did not collapse, but it suffered structural damage.  It was some time before the decision was finally made to tear down the building.

From time to time, I return to the site where I had stayed on so many trips, so see if work has begun on reconstruction.  Once again, the answer is "no".

The same battered sign is on the barricade...  "This property suffered damage in the earthquake of the 19th of September of 2017 and is in the process of reconstruction."

Next to the sign is a wooden gate, and written on that... "Don't post advertisements" and "Respect the entrance, please."  Both requests have obviously been ignored.  The barricade is a messy collage of several years of advertisements, and the white car was parked right in front of the entrance.

The parked car really doesn't matter.  It's not as if construction vehicles are entering and leaving through the gate.  I peeked through a gap in the wall, and nothing has been done.  There is nothing but the concrete slab which was once the floor of the apartment building which used to be my "home away from home".
