Orchids and Skulls

Since 2017, a part of Mexico City's celebration of Day of the Dead has been the exhibition of a new set of "Mexicráneos".  Each of these large, fiberglass skulls is a unique work of art done by a different artist.  In the words of the official website, they comprise "the largest exposition of urban art in Mexico".  In past years, they have been displayed along the Paseo de la Reforma.  However, this year the venue was moved to "Parque Bicentenario", a large park to the northwest of downtown.  Last Sunday, Alejandro and I took the subway to the park to see this year's skulls.

Some of the "Mexicráneos" are displayed in the "Orquidario", the park's orchid greenhouse.

Among skulls in the greenhouse, these were our favorites...

We don't know if awards are given for the best "Mexicráneo", but this one would have received our vote for first place.

But there were still more skulls to see outside by the lake.
