Alejandro had hotel points that needed to be used, so he booked a room at a Fiesta Americana Hotel which was once the old hacienda of San Antonio el Puente. It is located in the town of Xochitepec just south of Cuernavaca, the capital of the state of Morelos.
On Friday when Alejandro was done with work, he stopped at the apartment to pick me up. We hit the road about 6:30 P.M. Ideally, the journey should have taken only about an hour and a half. But the Friday night traffic in Mexico City was absolutely horrendous. Traffic on the expressway was frequently crawling at a snail's pace at best. I felt as if we would never get out of the city. We finally came to the toll road that crosses the mountains to the south of the city and descends into the valley of Cuernavaca. Once we were out of the city traffic, it took less than an hour to get to our destination, but we did not arrive at the hotel until after nine o'clock. We got settled into our room, and fortunately the hotel restaurant was still open. We had a very good meal of chicken breast in guava "mole".
The hotel is beautiful, but the Wi Fi connection is unsecure, is very slow and keeps going in and out. So my entries this weekend will be brief and with limited photos. I will wait until I am back in the city to fill you in on everything.
