The last several posts on the blog have been about Mexican Independence Day, but I haven't written about another important event which happened last weekend... Ezra's birthday!
Ezra usually has a big birthday party, but this year it was just the immediate family who live in the same household that celebrated.
Alejandro decided to bake a cake instead of buying one at a bakery. He made "pastel de elote"... corn cake made with corn meal. After baking the cake he spread Nutella between the layers.
He then covered the cake with whipped cream frosting.
Finally he did a rather elaborate job of decorating the cake.
The lights were turned off, the candles lit, "Las Mañanitas" sung, and Ezra blew out the candles.
Ezra said that it was the most delicious birthday cake that he had ever had!
