Day Lilies

I have a lot of day lilies in my garden.  They are very easy to grow and come in a variety of colors.  They require absolutely no care (other than spraying them with deer repellant because the deer find the buds very tasty).  They prefer full sun, although I have some that are getting by OK in shady spots.  Their only drawback is that most bloom only once.  However different varieties bloom at different times.  Some of mine have already finished flowering, while others are still forming buds.  July is when the largest number are in blossom.  Here are a few photos of what is currently blooming...

  1. I LOVE day lilies. Had zillions in Houston, but never see them here in San Miguel. They are one of the easiest plants to grow. The other great thing is how rapidly they multiply. So you get so many plants so fast. Your colors are magnificent.

    1. I am surprised that day lilies are not more popular in Mexico. I can only recall seeing them once... in the gardens of an historic hacienda outside of Jalapa, Veracruz.
