Doggies on the Walls

Street art is to be found throughout Mexico City.  A couple days ago, as I was walking through "Jardín Pushkin", a park in the neighborhood of Roma Norte, I saw artwork that was recently painted on the walls within the park.  All of the paintings were of dogs.

This one is a "xolo" or Mexican hairless, a breed which dates back to pre-Hispanic times.

This painting honors Proteo, a Mexican rescue dog who during his life saved 22 people in catastrophes in Mexico, Guatemala, and Ecuador and Turkey.
He died in February of last year while in Turkey, working to find survivors of the devastating earthquake in that country.
