Dinner After the Movie

After Alejandro and I were done seeing "Avatar 2" at the movie theater it was late afternoon and time for dinner.  We decided to eat at a place behind the shopping mall that we had noticed previously.  It was a 1950's style diner called Be Bops.

Years ago, Alejandro and I ate several times at a similar place in the Condesa neighborhood called the Barracuda Diner.  We really liked the place.  It was there that Alejandro had macaroni and cheese and a root beer float for the first time.  Barracuda closed down prior to the pandemic, so were hopeful that this place would be a good replacement.

The decor and atmosphere were fun.

Unfortunately, the food was terrible.

The menu was very limited.  The main courses were limited to burgers and hot dogs.  They were out of several items that we wanted to order.  The French fries were soggy, and the onion rings were mostly batter.  The hamburgers which we ordered did not taste very good.  Frankly, we were both worried that we were going to end up with Montezuma's revenge. (Fortunately, we didn't.)  The only thing that was good was our milkshakes.

We definitely will not return!

  1. Even if Mexican restaurants are generally modest in price, it doesn't matter if the food is awful.

    1. And this place was not especially cheap by Mexican standards.
