Alejandro's nephew, Ezra, is taking swimming classes three days a week. Last Friday, his mother was late getting home from work, so Alejandro and I took him to his lesson.
The class is held at a nearby shopping mall called "Puerta de Aragón". I had never been to this mall before, and it's a rather nice, three-story complex. On the top floor is a commercial swimming pool that offers lessons for people of all ages at all levels of ability.
Ezra already knows how to swim, so he is in an intermediate class. He spent the hour swimming laps. During the pandemic he has not had much exercise, so this is a good activity for him.
Alejandro and I were seated to the side of the pool where parents can watch their children. While Ezra's group was doing laps in the middle of the pool, right in front of us was a beginners' class. It was interesting to watch these little tykes. Some were having great fun, while others were terrified and in tears. The instructor was very patient and did his best to allay the fears of those who were afraid.
What a great idea this would be for the use of dying mall space in the US. Not every little town or suburb can afford its own pool, and this way, it's useable all year long. I'm glad Ezra is learning to swim so adeptly.
