Alejandro's family has two dogs. They had three, but last November, the oldest, Olinka, was put to sleep because her quality of life had declined enormously. That leaves Luna, whom the family rescued from the streets years ago, and Iztac, a pit bull they got just before the pandemic from a neighbor whose dog had a litter.
Luna is probably about fourteen years old, so she too is getting up in years. Iztac (her name is the Aztec word for "white") is very sweet and affectionate with me, but she still runs around like a crazy puppy.
From this photo of the two of them sleeping side by side you would think that they are the best of friends. In fact, Luna is an old lady who has little patience for the hyperactive antics of Iztac.
