Trump at the Movies

As Alejandro and I were driving along Insurgentes Avenue a couple nights ago, we noticed that the light poles were covered with posters bearing the image of... ugh... Donald Trump.  The next day I went out to see the posters in the daylight, and also did some research on what it was all about.

The posters are advertising a film called "Desierto" which opens in movie theaters here on Friday.  It is apparently a U.S. production, but stars well-known Mexican actor Gael García Bernal.  The story deals with a group of Mexicans who cross the border illegally, and who are pursued across the desert by a racist vigilante with a rifle.

The connection with Trump?  One of the promotional trailers for the movie features a voice over of Trump's infamous speech in which he calls the Mexican migrants a bunch of criminals and rapists.

Alternating with the posters bearing Trump's image, are these...

...which say, "Words are as dangerous as bullets."

  1. Are you and Alejandro going to see the movie? If so, you'll have to post a review.

    1. I don't know. It looks like a very violent, dark movie. Maybe we'll go see it if it's playing at the mall a few blocks from the apartment.
      ¡Saludos!
