After breakfast we drove to the "colonia" of Bosque de San Juan de Aragón to visit with Alejandro's parents.
Most neighborhoods will have a "tianguis" at least once a week. The word "tianguis" comes from the Aztec language and refers to an outdoor market. Saturday is the day for the "tianguis" in Alejandro's neighborhood, so we checked it out. One of the streets is closed for about twenty blocks, and Alejandro said that it is a small "tianguis" in comparison to some. It is not just a produce market; vendors sell everything from pork rinds to sunglasses, to mouthwash, to underwear, I was looking for some Mexican soccer shirts to give to my nephew, and I found a couple that I liked.
After our shopping expedition in the "tianguis", we took Alejandro's mother and niece to a little restaurant down the street from the house. It's not a fancy place, but the food is excellent. I had a "torta", a traditional Mexican sandwich served on a large, crusty roll. ¡Muy sabrosa! Very tasty!
