January is the coolest month of the year in Mexico City. Residents would say that it is COLD. Indeed, it is quite chilly at night and in the morning, especially since most homes do not have central heating. However most days the afternoon high will rise to a pleasant high in the lower 70s Fahrenheit. But now we are in the month of February. The temperatures are inching upward until they reach their peak during the hot months of April and May.
Yesterday, I saw my first sign of spring... a jacaranda tree beginning to bloom. Mexico City is famous for its thousands of jacarandas, and in another month or two the city will be awash with their purple flowers.
