Yesterday was Good Friday. In the early evening, Alejandro told me to come outside and bring my camera because the "Procesión de Silencio" was passing just down the street from their house. The Procession of Silence is an event held in various cities of Mexico on Good Friday to commemorate the Crucifixion. The nearby parish church in Alejandro's neighborhood organizes one every year. Religious images are carried through the streets, followed by several hundred parishioners, many of them with candles. Except for the beating of a drum, the event is held in complete silence.
