On Friday I took the Metro Line 7 to go to the Anthropology Museum, and I got off at the "Auditorio" stop, and I saw that there was a British theme going on in the station.
On this staircase the edge of each step has been decorated to create an image of Big Ben. Another staircase in the station is similarly decorated with the image of the London Eye.
The corridors of the station are covered in tiles in the style of the London Tube stations. And there are posters promoting the ways in which Great Britain is great.
It is, I believe, a campaign undertaken by the British Tourist Board.
In your wildest dreams could you envision a "Mexico Is Great" campaign in the NYC subways?
ReplyDeleteActually, NYC is cosmopolitan enough that its mindset isn't mired in stereotypes. In Mexico City I have seen billboards promoting tourism in New York City.
