Polanco is one of Mexico City's most affluent neighborhoods, and its main commercial street, Avenida Presidente Masaryk, is the city's version of "Rodeo Drive". Designer fashions and snooty, overpriced restaurants are not my thing, so I rarely venture into Polanco. Once a year, however, I make it a point to go to the neighborhood for its Festival of Flowers and Gardens. It was held last week from Thursday, April 2, through Sunday, April 6. I went there on the first day, before the flowers started to wilt in the springtime heat, and to avoid the weekend crowds.
This is the third year that I have gone to the festival and the third time that I have written about it on this blog. Many of the businesses along Avenida Presidente Masaryk are decorated with flowers and plants for this event. In some cases the entire facades of buildings are covered with flowers.
