The Surreal City

I have read that the Spanish painter Salvador Dalí, a master of surrealism, once called Mexico City the most surreal place that he had ever visited.   From time to time, I have to concur.  A case in point is this construction site along Insurgentes Avenue near the Paseo de la Reforma.

A high-rise building of luxury apartments is being built.  It is incorporating the art deco façade of the building that stood there before.

Dangling from the edge of the façade are a pair of female legs, clad in fish-net stockings and high-heel shoes.

It looks like something that Dali himself would have dreamed up.
