Beer Advertisement

As I was walking down Insurgentes Avenue last week, I saw workers painting on either side of the entrance to a parking lot.  One guy was painting an image of a woman who appeared to be dressed in vintage attire from another era.

I was curious as to what he was painting, but then I had my answer when I saw what the other guy was painting on the other side of the entrance.

It was an advertisement for Miller High Life Beer.

When I passed by several days later, I saw that the painting had been completed.

I was still curious about the woman in the advertisement, and with just a bit of research on Google, I found out that the image is from Miller's original advertisements in 1903.  They depicted a woman in the colorful attire of a circus performer.  (She's even holding a whip like a ringmaster.)  A few years later, the image was changed to show the same woman sitting on a crescent moon.  The "Girl in the Moon" remained their advertising logo for many years, and, according to the article I read, was brought back in 1998.

I am not a beer drinker, but everyone tells me that Mexican beer is excellent, better than beers in the U.S.  (Well, except for Corona, which several people have told me they do not like.)  So, my question is, why is Miller exporting beer to Mexico, and will it be able to compete against the Mexican brands?
