Let There Be Light

Last month, when I arrived to the apartment that I rent, I discovered that a couple of the ceiling light fixtures were not working... one in the walk-in closet and one in the office.  This had happened to one of the fixtures a couple of years ago. It was not a matter of just replacing a bulb, since they no longer sell that kind of light.  The whole fixture had to be replaced.

On Saturday, Alejandro and I decided that we had been putting it off for too long, and that we needed to take care of those lights.  We drove to where we had gone before... Victoria Street in the old downtown district.

I have mentioned before that in the center of town, shops of the same kind are all clustered together on one street.  So whether you are looking for photographic equipment, plumbing supplies, musical instruments, or a gown for your daughter's 15th birthday party, you will find a bunch of stores grouped together.

For two blocks on Victoria Street, as well as on one of the side streets, there is one lighting store after another.  Here you will find light fixtures, chandeliers, lamps, fluorescent bulbs, neon signs... everything you might be seeking as far as electrical lighting is concerned.  I really think it is a great idea.  You don't have to travel all over town to find what you need.  We soon found the fixtures that we were seeking.

I had to take a picture of this lovely, old art deco building in the middle of the lighting district.
