But it still did not seem as impressive as what I have seen on nature films. The monarch population is sadly in decline. We humans have a knack for messing up Nature.<br />Retired Teacherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03697897155105288077noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8005183909843018870.post-34453420791045575092019-02-21T10:38:33.046-05:002019-02-21T10:38:33.046-05:00I enjoyed reading about your tour, even if it was ...I enjoyed reading about your tour, even if it was sub-par. My sister might be particularly interested in hearing about this place because she and her family are trying to do their part to help revive the monarch population. She has a large garden with many butterfly-friendly plant species including milkweed, and they bring every egg they find indoors to help it safely reach maturity. They release several hundred monarchs each year. So it's neat to get a glimpse of the butterflies' final destination.Meredithnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8005183909843018870.post-46577900244543408082019-02-20T11:38:05.528-05:002019-02-20T11:38:05.528-05:00Hi Bill - If you ever come back to SMA and want to...Hi Bill - If you ever come back to SMA and want to go to another butterfly sanctuary, let me know. Chinqua is about a 2 1/2 hour ride from here on beautiful back country roads. When I went, during the week, there were only 4 or 5 other people there and lived up to all my expectations. The fact that it was warmer and the butterflies are getting ready to head north was the reason that you did not see huge clumps clinging to the trees. If you go in December, when it is cloudy and colder, you will see that.........I'm glad you survived it. I would not have wanted to see all those other people there. The beauty for me was feeling as though I was one of the few people on the planet and there sharing nature with the monarchs.Babshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16609157345912932083noreply@blogger.com
